Why a one-time check is not enough
A readiness audit is useful: it shows whether your store is set up for AI shopping agents at a given moment. But the data an agent reads comes from several moving parts, and each one changes on its own schedule:
- Prices. Sales start and end, pricing apps adjust values, compare-at prices are edited. A structured data block that is out of step with the visible price can appear the day a promotion starts.
- Stock. A best-seller sells out on a Saturday. If the agent-facing data still says in stock, a shopper is sent to a product they cannot buy.
- Apps and themes. Installing a reviews or SEO app, or updating the theme, can add a second Product schema block or remove one.
- Feeds and catalogs. Merchant Center, Shopify Catalog and the OpenAI merchant program each take data on their own cadence. OpenAI's guide, for example, asks approved merchants for a full feed daily plus updates through its API during the day.
- Markets and currencies. Adding a country can introduce a currency mismatch only visible outside your home market.
Stale or poorly synchronized data has been cited among the problems with early in-chat checkout experiments. Whatever the platform, an agent can only be as accurate as the data it receives.
What AI Sales Assurance checks on every run
Each run is read-only: it never edits your store, never places an order and collects no customer data.
| Area | What is compared |
|---|---|
| Price and currency | Price and currency agents receive vs. the live product page |
| Availability | In stock / out of stock in agent-facing data vs. the page |
| Structured data | JSON-LD missing, or disagreeing with the page (often a hard-coded theme block or an SEO app) |
| Offers and claims | Promotions and product claims that do not match the page |
| Variants and titles | Wrong variant or title returned for a product |
| Links | Missing product URL or broken product link |
| Data completeness | Missing image, very short description, incomplete product data |
| Agent catalog and capabilities | Catalog unavailable, capability not announced, agent search returning no result |
| Trust | Refund policy, shipping policy and llms.txt present |
| Cart to checkout | Item lost, variant or quantity changed, attribution parameters (such as utm_source or ref) dropped. The test always stops before payment. |
It does not check robots.txt or which AI bots you allow; see our robots.txt guide for that.
Daily or every 6 hours: choosing a frequency
The right frequency depends on how fast your data changes.
| Essential | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | US$49/month | US$149/month |
| Check frequency | Daily | Every 6 hours (4 times a day) |
| Alerts with proof | Yes | Yes |
| Weekly report | Yes | Yes |
| "Fix in Shopify" links | Yes | Yes |
| Free trial | 14 days | 14 days |
Essential fits stores whose prices and stock change a few times a week. Pro fits stores with frequent promotions, fast-moving stock, several markets or many apps touching product pages, where a mismatch that lasts a day is too long. A Guardian plan (US$249/month) is coming soon with a waiting list. Both plans are also available as a Shopify app billed on your Shopify invoice. See pricing.
What an alert looks like
An alert is only useful if you can act on it without investigating for an hour. Each one includes:
- What is wrong, in plain language: for example, "Agents see 39.00 USD, the page shows 29.00 USD."
- Proof: the values captured from each side at the time of the check, so you can confirm it yourself.
- Likely cause: such as a second JSON-LD block, a variant snippet, or a currency fixed to your default market.
- Where to fix it: a link to the relevant place in your Shopify admin.
The weekly report summarizes what was found, what was fixed and what is still open, which is useful if an agency or developer handles your theme.
Which stores benefit most from monitoring
Not every store needs checks several times a day. Monitoring pays off most when one or more of these is true:
- You run promotions often, or use an app that changes prices automatically.
- Stock on popular products runs out quickly, or you sell limited drops.
- You sell in several markets or currencies through Shopify Markets.
- Several apps (reviews, SEO, bundles, subscriptions) write to your product pages.
- You are enrolled in AI channels such as Shopify Agentic Storefronts or Copilot Checkout, so agents already send you shoppers.
- An agency or freelancer edits your theme, and you want to know when a change affects product data.
A small store with a stable catalog and rare price changes may be well served by the free check repeated after major changes.
Monitoring you can do yourself
If you prefer to start by hand, a simple routine catches the most common problems:
- Each week, open three product pages (one on sale, one with variants, one sold out) and compare the JSON-LD with the page, as described in our product schema guide.
- After installing or removing any app that touches product pages, repeat the check.
- Review Merchant Center diagnostics for price and availability mismatches.
- Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity about one of your products and compare the price and stock they give with your page.
The limit is coverage: a few pages, occasionally. Monitoring covers your products on a schedule and tells you when something changes.
Start with a free check
The free check runs the full comparison once, with no card required, so you can see what agents currently get. If it finds nothing, good. If it does, you will know what to fix, and you can then start Essential or start Pro to keep it that way.
Check what AI shopping agents see in your store
Free, read-only check: prices, stock, variants, structured data and links compared with your real product pages. No credit card.
Run my free checkFrequently asked questions
Why monitor AI product data instead of checking once?
Prices, stock, apps, themes and feeds change after any one-time check. A mismatch introduced by a sale or an app update stays invisible until someone checks again.
How often should I check what AI agents see about my products?
Daily is enough for stores whose prices and stock change a few times a week. Stores with frequent promotions or fast-moving stock benefit from checks every few hours.
Does AI Sales Assurance place test orders?
No. The cart test always stops before payment, so no order is placed. The service is read-only and never changes your store.
What is included in an alert?
What is wrong, the values captured on each side as proof, the likely cause, and a link to where you can fix it in Shopify.
